NEW YORK, NY – Every year Vox Media’s Curbed honors bright talent in the design world under the moniker “young guns” for their ability to challenge the industry’s status quo. We were commissioned for portraits of two of the 2016 honorees. Above are Jake Levine and Zoë Salditch of Electric Objects, which is a platform for bringing digital art into every home. Below is Danielle Arps who designs fun and functional commercial interiors for tech start-ups. We supplemented the assignment with some GIFs where the Electric Objects team programs the changing art on their EO1 wall displays and Arps sketches her Dani Lounge, a custom chair with tall sides that provide both comfort and privacy. NEW YORK, NY – Our friend Phillip Low makes beautiful hand milled acrylic sculptural pieces. He was kind enough to let us photograph him and his work in progress during a studio visit. Adopting the aesthetic of prisms and prismatic color separation, his pieces shape light in a way that is absolutely magical.
GENEVA, NY – For the March 2014 issue of Dwell, we headed upstate to spend a day photographing Brandon and Amy Phillips in their impressive live/work factory. Above are outtakes from the workshop where the couple designs and crafts beautiful, sustainable furniture for their company Miles & May Furniture Works. See Dwell for the article and our photos of their stunning home.
